CV checker
Paste your CV, and the job advert if you have one. Get a score, the keywords you are missing and specific fixes, checked against UK CV conventions.
What the checker looks for
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Length | UK employers expect about two A4 pages for most roles. |
| Personal details | No photo, date of birth or marital status. UK CVs leave them off. |
| Profile | A short opening that matches the role you are applying for. |
| Achievements | Results with numbers beat lists of duties. |
| Keywords | Skills and terms from the advert, so screening software and recruiters find a match. |
Tips for a higher score
- Paste plain text. Columns and tables in a CV often confuse screening software too.
- Always add the advert. Tailoring to one job lifts the score more than any wording change.
- Fix the top three items first, then check again.
