Cover letter generator
Tell us the role, the employer and three things you have done. Get a one-page UK cover letter you can edit and send.
What makes a cover letter work
- One page, three or four paragraphs. Hiring managers skim.
- Evidence, not adjectives. "Cut response time from two days to four hours" beats "hard-working".
- Match the advert. Use the employer's own words for the skills they ask for.
- UK sign-off. "Yours sincerely" when you know their name; "Yours faithfully" when you don't.
Before you send
- Replace every [add detail] with a real fact.
- Check the employer's name and the job title against the advert.
- Read it out loud. Cut any sentence that does not prove you can do the job.
Run your CV through the CV checker against the same advert, so both documents tell the same story.
